Your journey begins at the foot of Mount Meru in Arusha, the safari capital of northern Tanzania. From lush surroundings, journey to the wildlife-teeming wilderness of Tarangire National Park, famous for its massive elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Explore the scenic Rift Valley and Lake Manyara National Park—renowned for its tree-climbing lions and flamingo-fringed soda lake—before descending into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera where you can spot the Big Five.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
DAY 1 – WELCOME
1 Night in Arusha | Mount Meru Game Lodge (Standard Room)
- Meals: Dinner (HB)
- Activity: Road transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to Arusha.
- Description: Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha serves as an ideal base to explore Tanzania’s famed Northern Safari Circuit. On arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your lodge to freshen up and unwind after your flight.
DAY 2 & 3 – CONTINUE YOUR JOURNEY TO
2 Nights in Tarangire National Park | Conserve Safari Tarangire Camp (Classic Tent)
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (FB)
- Activity: Afternoon game drive on Day 1; Full-day game drive with a picnic lunch on Day 2.
- Description: The Tarangire River snakes through the park, drawing wildlife from long distances during the dry season. Spanning 1,096 square miles of protected lands, it features extensive grasslands dotted with majestic acacia and baobab trees. Look out for large elephant herds, lions, leopards, zebras, and over 500 bird species.
- Optional Experience: Tarangire Hot Air Balloon Ride available.
DAY 4 – CONTINUE YOUR JOURNEY TO
1 Night in Karatu (Lake Manyara) | Acacia Farm Lodge (Suite Room)
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (FB)
- Activity: Lake Manyara game drive + Mto Wa Mbu Tuk-Tuk Village Tour.
- Description: Depart Tarangire for Lake Manyara National Park via the Rift Valley Escarpment. Spot elephants, troops of baboons, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and if you’re lucky, tree-climbing lions. Afterward, experience the vibrant culture of Mto Wa Mbu village with an exclusive guided Tuk-Tuk ride and authentic local lunch.
DAY 5 – CONTINUE YOUR JOURNEY TO
1 Night in Karatu (Ngorongoro Crater) | Acacia Farm Lodge (Suite Room)
- Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner (FB)
- Activity: Full-day Ngorongoro Crater floor game drive with picnic lunch.
- Description: Descend early into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater—the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fertile volcanic soil supports a dense, permanent population of wildlife, including prides of lions, Cape buffaloes, elephants, zebras, hyenas, and the elusive black rhinoceros. Ascend in the late afternoon to your luxury lodge in Karatu.
DAY 6 – YOU’VE REACHED THE END OF YOUR JOURNEY
Transfer to Arusha / Kilimanjaro Airport
- Meals: Breakfast & Lunch (B-L) + Day Room Use
- Description: After breakfast, check out and drive back to Arusha via Mto wa Mbu for last-minute shopping or a village walk. Enjoy a relaxing day room use and lunch at Mount Meru Game Lodge before your evening transfer to Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight.
